The 2019 Taiwan-Japan Trade and Economic Sustainability Forum

On September 6, the 2019 Taiwan-Japan Trade and Economic Sustainability Forum was held at the Taipei International Conventional Center. Sponsored jointly by CNAIC and the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy, the forum also benefited from the leadership and guidance of the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs. Six of Japan's largest and most important trade groups—the Japan Business Federation, the Kansai Economic Federation, the Central Japan Economic Federation, the Kyushu Economic Federation, the Hokkaido Economic Federation, and the Shikoku Economic Federation—sent high-level delegates to take part in the gathering. Experts from academia, business, and government met and exchanged views, with the goal of integrating Taiwan more closely with the regional economy, and to explore ways to put sustainable development into practice. All told, it was a significant and fruitful event, an example of the benefits that can occur when Japan and Taiwan work together toward a common goal.

The welcome dinner party held on Sep. 5.

The opening ceremony of the forum held on Sep. 6.

The panelists discussed on “The meaning of CPTPP from Japan’s perspective”
