Chen, Group chairman of Wan Hai Lines chaired a panel discussion to compare the business management between Japanese and Taiwanese companies. The two panelists include Mr. C. S. Lin (former CEO of Uni-President Enterprises Corp.) and Mr. Tsing-Yuan Hwang (Independent Director of the Board, Cathay Financial Holdings Co., Ltd.).

Most of the audience was concerned about why a super Japanese enterprise would not set quotas for each employee. Prof. Sakamoto pointed that in contrast to “top down’’ approach, employees are self-motivated to set up their own goals respectively from a “bottom up” approach. In addition, there was a heated discussion between the panelists and the audience over employment of the disabled issue echoing the spirit of the human-centered capitalism.
