Miyagi Prefecture is a key hub in northeast Japan, with Sendai International Airport serving as an important gateway to the area. Since the signing of the first MOU in 2006, CNAIC and MIBPA have maintained close economic cooperation and trade ties for more than two decades. As this year marks the fifth extension, the MOU has fostered substantive exchanges in a wide range of areas, including business, tourism, and education.
With CNAIC Vice Chairman Joe Huang and MIBPA Chairman Norimitsu Kobayashi as signatories of the two sides, the MOU signing ceremony was held under the witness of Kazuyuki Katayama, Chief Representative of Taipei Office of the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association; Susan Chi-Chuan Hu, Deputy Director General of the International Trade Administration, Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), and Ying-Chieh Hung, Secretary General of the Taiwan-Japan Relations Association. Other distinguished guests in attendance included CNAIC Advisor Mei-hua Wang; Taishin Youth Foundation Chairman Ching-Hsiang Tsai; CNAIC Executive Director Yu-Ping Chang; Director Simon Chiang; Supervisors Alex Lo and Kuo-Fu Liao as well as Taiwan Vegetables & Fruits Exporters Association Chairman Yun-chao Su.
Building on the longstanding mutual trust, both sides look forward to stepping up exchanges between respective business communities and creating new momentum for economic growth. In the meantime, this MOU renewal is expected to deepen cooperation across multiple sectors, such as agricultural, fishery, and industrial products; investments and business expansion in the manufacturing and food service sectors; technological cooperation and joint R&D projects; and diverse exchange programs.
Looking ahead, the two organizations will keep working together to implement cooperation initiatives in the fields of trade and economic affairs, technology, tourism, education, and local-level exchanges, aiming to create more comprehensive collaboration and generate business opportunities for Taiwan and Japan.
