2026年01月14日
On January 14, Mr. Steven Pan, Executive Director of CNAIC, and Mr. Walter H.C. Chang, Director of CNAIC, participated in the “Taiwan-Japan Business Roundtable on Economic Resilience” organized by Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE), sharing their strategies and experience of resilience building.
Drawing on the examples from his career in the tourism industry, Mr. Pan spoke of the story of how his hotel’s staff spontaneously carried out crisis management measures during the 2024 Hualien earthquake with effective responses. He emphasized that the private sector and the government should work together to strengthen the crisis response capabilities of the workforce and corporate resilience so as to enable rapid and comprehensive responses to upcoming challenges. Mr. Chang, on the other hand, elaborated on the best cases of Taiwan–Japan economic and trade cooperation, noting that in the face of the complex international environment and the impact of tariff policies, Taiwanese enterprises must remain flexible to cope with shifting market demands while building supply chain resilience. He also underscored the importance of Taiwan’s accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). During the Q&A session, CNAIC Secretary General Mr. Chiu, Yi-Cheh reiterated the need for Taiwan and the U.S. to expedite the signing of the Agreement for the Avoidance of Double Taxation (ADTA) and the Free Trade Agreement (FTA), in order to reduce barriers to investments in the U.S. and deepen the increasingly close partnership.
